Gary Friend is Managing Director, responsible for day-to-day operations and administration, long-term planning and execution, and supporting the work of the Board of Directors on behalf of the company. Gary joined the HPET team in January 2018 and transitioned into this role in August 2019.
Previously, Gary held officer-level positions in the for-profit and non-profit sectors, leading line and staff functions at small to large, global organizations—54,000 employees, 90 countries. Throughout his career he has worked with the likes of ACNielsen (subsidiary), Bridges Public Charter School, CACI, Dun & Bradstreet, Fannie Mae, and IMS HEALTH.
Gary served as a senior advisor to non-profit organizations in housing, education, and the arts, providing board development, organizational design, and business planning and expansion leadership and support. Additionally, he was an adjunct professor in the School of Business at The George Washington University, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in marketing and marketing research for ten years and subsequently serving on the school’s Board of Advisors.
Gary holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration (marketing), with honors, and a master’s degree in business administration (applied economics), Graduate Fellow, from The George Washington University.
